GRINDING OPERATOR

St. Marys, OH | Third Shift | $16.00 + shift premium

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Properly and safely load and unload raw materials in precision grinding machinery, respond to machine malfunctions, and abide by ISO requirements and safety operating procedures.
  • Meet part specifications and surface finishes of close tolerances on thickness; proficiency in taking measurements; adjust work holding and grinding wheels to compensate for measurement findings;
    adhere to internal quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Must be able to use precision gauges and instruments, read inspection documents, record irregular findings, and perform unassisted adjustments to grinding wheels including proper selection and wear dressing.
  • Ability to do repetitive work with a broad range of parts in high mix/low volume production.
  • Follow all operational and work standards.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with company, EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Prepare and interpret required production and quality reports.
  • Perform regular equipment cleaning and light maintenance tasks for lubricants and coolants.
  • Recognize, deploy and properly use work holding/grinding wheel adjustments based on close tolerance precision measurement.
  • Understand and make other machine adjustments as instructed.
  • Use an array of gauges and calipers or micrometers to meet tolerance requirements.
  • Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement culture.
  • Verify settings by measuring positions, first/last run part and sample work pieces.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality logs.
  • Interact professionally with internal and external customers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Pass required company prescreening assessments.
  • Possess good problem-solving skills and the ability to read required gauges and tools.
  • Lift up to 40 pounds without assistance; reaching, bending and standing for long periods of time is also required.
  • Previous experience is not required; candidate will be trained in-house.
  • Flexibility and availability for overtime hours as required due to production demands.
  • Familiarity with using a computer.
  • Legally eligible to work in the United States.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be able to read and speak the English language well enough to communicate, understand and respond to questions, directions, signals and safety training.

MACHINE MAINTENANCE

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform all duties in a safe manner in compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations and company policies.
  • Ability to follow directions.
  • Perform all preventative maintenance duties to equipment.
  • Continually monitor machinery and make necessary adjustment(s) to ensure proper operation.
  • Perform mechanical repairs to machinery.
  • Repair of conveyors and component parts.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company, EPA and OSHA regulations.
  • Complete all paperwork and/or electronic updates as required.
  • Regular use of industrial shop tools and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Participate in and contribute to continuous improvement culture.
  • Document actions by completing required reports.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the job (prolonged physical exertions, including standing, lifting, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, kneeling, climbing and working in awkward positions and tight areas).
  • Welding and mechanical knowledge.
  • Must be able to recognize and avoid electrical hazards.
  • Must be familiar with electrical PPE such as arc flash suit, insulated gloves and tools.
  • Must possess the decision-making ability to determine the level of hazard, proper PPE and job planning to safely perform the task.
  • Ability to obtain certificate to operate powered industrial lift trucks.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to be able to communicate effectively and professionally with internal and external customers.
  • Familiarity with using a computer.
